EstimateCalcs publishes free material calculators for construction and home improvement: concrete, aggregates, roofing, drywall, flooring and more.
Why it exists
Most material calculators are lead-capture forms wearing a calculator costume. Ours ask for nothing. There is no signup, no email gate, and nothing you type is uploaded — every calculation runs in your own browser.
How we calculate
Every calculator uses standard volume and area math in US customary units. Cubic yards are cubic feet divided by 27. Concrete bag yields are the standard manufacturer yields: 0.30 ft³ for 40 lb, 0.45 for 60 lb and 0.60 for 80 lb. Roof area uses the pitch multiplier √(1 + (rise/12)²). Aggregate weights use published averages — 1.4 tons per cubic yard for gravel, 1.35 for sand, 1.1 for topsoil and 1.96 for compacted asphalt. Where a number is an industry average rather than a fixed constant, we say so on the page.
What we do not do
These are quantity calculators, not engineering tools. They will not tell you how thick a slab should be, what mix strength to specify, how to size a footing or whether your framing carries the load. Those are structural questions that depend on soil, climate and local code — take them to an engineer or your building department.
